If you are obsessed with candles like I am, you must have candles that look like this:
I was keeping my "collection" of these candles in one of my bathroom cabinets under the sink. Although it made my bathroom smell A-mazing, the time came where I finally couldn't fit one more in there! I decided to reuse the leftover wax and make new candles. It was such a simple project and also made my entire house smell yummy as I was doing it!
Since I had so many leftover candles to use, I separated them by colors so the new candle's layers would work together: (Don't mind the rest of my clutter on the counter!)
Next, all you need are candle wicks and a container. I bought the wicks and new glass containers at a craft store (the glass containers where $1 each... can't beat that!) Take one of the wicks and place in the center of your container. Use something to twist the wick around to keep in place. I used a small wooden skewer, but anything from a popsicle stick to a pencil will do the trick!
Heating the wax on the stove was extremely simple. Just fill a pot with about 1-2 inches of water and have it simmer. Once the water is hot add the candle into the pot and wait until the wax is melted.
** I used a small pot for this because the candles will bob around since they float. The small pot helped keep them upright so I didn't have to hold them the entire time. **
** Make sure to remove the old leftover wick once the wax is starting to melt! **
Once the wax is melted and old wick removed, pour into your container!
Once the wax has cooled, repeat the above steps for the others and you will have new candles with layers of scents!
**I would put my candles in the fridge to help cool the wax faster, I also tried the freezer, but found that if the wax cools too quickly you will get bubbles! (You can see the bubbles on the blue candle)
I hope you enjoy!!!
